Why not an off-the-shelf solution
Sometimes an off-the-shelf system really is better — if your processes are standard, a boxed solution will be cheaper and faster. We'll tell you so directly if we see that this is the case.
Custom development is justified in two cases: when your processes are specific to your industry and a boxed product forces you to bend the business around it, or when you need integration with equipment and systems that an off-the-shelf solution doesn't support.
